We act on behalf of individuals, companies and developers regarding insolvency issues including negotiating and agreeing settlements with banks and creditors. Bankruptcy whether voluntary or forced is rare in Ireland due to its protracted and costly nature (whereby it can take up to 10-14 years to complete). However we act for many Irish residents who have relocated to Northern Ireland and transferred their main interest there to elect to file for voluntary bankruptcy there so as to allow themselves a debt free fresh start which is 12 months in Northern Ireland after obtaining a Bankruptcy Order which is not set aside where the individual is then freed from the debts and bankruptcy. This huge difference in the law North and South is leading to growth in what the newspapers are calling “Bankruptcy Migration”
